Usually a racing pigeon lays two eggs. When the eggs are laid the mother sits on them at night. During the day, the father and mother take turns sitting on the eggs keeping them at 100 degrees F. Eighteen days after the second egg is laid they begin to hatch. At first, the babies are tiny and don't have feathers so the parents sit on the babies to keep them warm. Baby racing pigeons are fed pigeon milk by both parents and grow quickly.
